According to the ancient Indian philosophers the UNIVERSE is a fabric woven by the GODS.
Inspired by an exhibition L’artista come Rishi – ‘The Artist as Rishi’ curated by Lori Adragna & Mary Angela Schroth and organized by MuseoNazionaled’Arte Orientale – International Center for Contemporary Art, Rome, Bibliothe’- Bhagavat Atheneum & Asia Onlus – Association for International Solidarity in Asia in 2011, I picked on the two concepts while experimenting with my ideas and methods and happy to be sharing this with you.
‘The Artist as Rishi’ questioned the representation of the ‘sacred’ or mystic in contemporary art, exploring relationships and compatibility between artistic experience and extrasensory knowledge, convergence between eastern and western thought in the light of a ‘unitary metaphysics’ both of secular and religious matrix, which as an invisible current through each civilization, and after many years, still inspires man in his desire to change.
‘Union of the individual soul with the Divine soul’ or the continuous gradation of ‘secret level’s from One to All, from darkness to light, from microcosm to macrocosm…. ( philosophy of YOG) encouraged me to delve deeper into the understanding of the self and how I could transform, grow and re-energize my own self as well as others through an array of concepts, colors and materials.
The intent is for the art works to, not only please the eye/senses, but also ‘HEAL’.
